twenty-two things i’ve learned from harry potter

10May12

1) that life is messy, and complicated, and that you think that killing people will make them like you, but it doesn’t; it just makes them dead.

2) that it is our choices who show us who we truly are.harry potter trio

3) happiness can be found even in the darkest of times.

4) we have light and dark in all of us.

5) you can tell what a man is really like by how he treats his inferiors.

6) love conquers all.

7) it’s okay that you didn’t die for your friends. all that matters was that you meant to.

8) no one can evade death forever.

9) just because it’s all in your head doesn’t mean it’s not real.

10) never underestimate a nice woolen sock.

11) it does no good to dwell on dreams and forget to live.

12) the young can do great things.harry potter trio

13) being nosy with no brains is not a good combination.

14) you will do anything for someone you love.

15) you never tell a girl you like her, because it makes you look like an idiot.

16) a children’s book can be 90,000 words long.

17) fear of a name only increases said fear.

18) there are some experiences you can’t share without becoming friends.

19) hearing voices isn’t a good sign, regardless of who you are or where you come from.

20) it doesn’t matter what one is born, but what they grow up to be.

21) it takes as much courage to stand up to friends as it does enemies.

22) all will be well.

these were mostly off the top of my head. there were others that seemed like it might be funny to add, such as your professor secretly loves your mom, or there are snakes in your water pipes, and they do want to kill you but were completely irrelevant, unpractical, and not always true.

what would you like to add to the list? what nuggets of wisdom have you picked up from j.k. rowling, and the harry potter series?

  1. You pretty much said everything I’ve learnt too..

    • Ha! Well, some of them were more obvious than others, but they’ve all come in handy in one odd way or another!

  2. Ha ha I love it! Number 7 and 10 are my favourite!

  3. One correction, number 11 should say “it does no good to dwell on dreams and forget to live”. There’s nothing wrong with dreaming, just don’t let it obscure reality now.

  4. Hahaha love it 😛 Love how these are mostly quotes 😛 1 and 7 are my favs lol…

  5. i love the one that said,”it takes just as much to stand up to friends as it does enemies.” that is so very true, but i had never thought of it before!

    • I find it is very true. We are more inclined to call the police on a stranger than on a friend, for example.

      • i agree, i had to stand up to two people i really care about this week in order to save their lives…to do that, i had to put aside my own heartache, knowing they would be mad at me, but also knowing i was doing the very best thing for them…i can only hope they will know that one day.
