in the moment

going on vacation next week. going shopping tomorrow. company coming saturday. too often, we find ourselves looking forward to something. nothing is wrong with expectation, but when we look too much into the future, we forget to live in the moment.

in the moment.

right now, there might be someone in the room with you, and odds are you aren’t talking to them. later, you might be walking in the pharmacy and thinking about something, not noticing the people around you, not interacting with them.

that’s not living in the moment.

take time to relish each moment, each experience. make eye contact with the woman behind the checkout counter, smile, and make friendly conversation. savour not only your food, but each touch, each kiss.

there is nothing wrong with daydreaming, but in the words of albus dumbledore, “it does no good to dwell on dreams and forget to live”.
